David Brockett was a contemporary pop artist, whose off-beat humor and childlike whimsy is evident in every piece. He worked with acrylic on canvas, sculpture and digital art for 30 years. Exhibiting across the country from New York City to Los Angeles, his installations and commissions can still be seen throughout the United States and abroad.
David was diagnosed with ALS at 50 years old and remained bedridden until his death at 54. Though he could no longer hold a paintbrush, he continued to create digital work until the very end. Though perhaps not conscious, it was clear that his struggle with his health was reflected in his artwork. While bedridden and slowly becoming trapped in his own body from this debilitating disease, the Cuboid Cartoons, made of box people, were created. And, as he started losing grasp of the physical world his ideation of the blurry Super Hero was born. Though his body eventually started to fail him, his wit and wisdom never did.
